Terms and Conditions for Participation

Terms and Conditions for Participation in Programs and Courses offered by us.

1. Subject of the Contract

These Terms and Conditions apply to all programs, courses, workshops, and events ("Programs") organized by Aaryan Salman/Global Debates Europe ("the Organizer"). They govern the relationship between the Organizer and the participant or, in the case of minors, the participant’s parent or legal guardian ("the Contractual Party"). All services and participation requirements are described at www.globaldebates.org or in our official materials.

2. Registration and Contract Formation

  • Registration takes place online via our website or as described in our communications.

  • The contract is formed when you (the participant, or for minors, the parent/guardian) receive a confirmation email after payment.

  • By registering, you confirm you are authorized to enter into this contract, and for minors, that you are their legal guardian.

  • Registrations are binding.

3. Services

  • The type and scope of services are as described in the program descriptions.

  • The Organizer provides the Program at the specified locations and times.

  • Minor changes in content or schedule may occur if necessary.

4. Payment and Participation

  • Program fees are due in full upon registration. Payment methods are listed on the registration page.

  • Participation is only possible after payment is received.

  • Partial participation or failure to secure third-party funding does not entitle you to a fee reduction or to withhold payment.

  • If payment is not made on time, the Organizer may exclude the participant from the Program.

5. Cancellations and Changes by the Organizer

  • The Organizer may cancel or change Program dates or locations for reasons beyond its control.

  • If the Organizer cancels the entire Program, all fees paid will be refunded. No further claims are possible.

  • If there are significant changes (e.g., to time or location), you will be informed. You can withdraw within one week of notification and receive a refund for any fees paid. No further claims are possible.

6. Right of Withdrawal and Cancellations by the Customer

  • No Statutory Right of Withdrawal:
All Programs are set-date or period events. According to §312g(2)9 BGB, there is no statutory right of withdrawal (Widerrufsrecht) for contracts involving leisure activities or events with a fixed date or period. The only withdrawal or cancellation rights available are those outlined below.

  • Voluntary Right of Withdrawal (Up to Four Weeks Before Program Start):
You may withdraw from the contract up to four weeks before the Program begins.

    • Withdrawal must be made in writing by email (leadership@globaldebates.org) or post (see Impressum); the date of receipt determines effectiveness.

    • For timely withdrawal, a cancellation fee of €50 will be charged. Any remaining payments will be refunded.

  • Withdrawal Less Than Four Weeks Before the Program Start:
No refunds will be issued for withdrawals received less than four weeks before the Program begins.

  • Booking Changes:
Booking changes (such as changing dates or participant names) can be made for a processing fee of €20 per booking, subject to availability.

  • Missed Sessions or Voluntary Withdrawal:
No refunds or credits for missed sessions, late arrival, early departure, or voluntary withdrawal by the participant for any reason, including illness, unless required by law.

  • Force Majeure:
In the case of force majeure (e.g., proven illness, official restrictions), the Organizer may, at its discretion, offer a credit for a future Program. There is no legal obligation to do so.

  • Insurance Recommendation:
We strongly recommend you purchase travel or cancellation insurance for your booking.

7. Copyright and Use of Materials

  • All materials provided by the Organizer are protected by copyright.

  • No materials may be reproduced, shared, or used publicly without written permission from the Organizer.

8. Participant Conduct

  • Participants must follow instructions from the Organizer and treat others with respect.

  • The Organizer may exclude any participant who repeatedly disrupts the Program, endangers others, or behaves inappropriately. In such cases, fees are non-refundable.

9. Medical Release and Health

  • For minors, the parent/guardian agrees the Organizer may take necessary medical action in emergencies if timely consent cannot be obtained.

  • The Contractual Party must inform the Organizer of any health issues or contagious diseases before the Program.

  • Any sudden changes in health must be communicated immediately.

10. Liability

  • The Organizer is not liable for health or other damages to participants or third parties, unless caused by intent or gross negligence by the Organizer(s).

  • Liability for injury to life, body, or health, as well as mandatory legal liability (including under the Product Liability Act), remains unaffected.

  • The Organizer is not liable for loss, damage, or destruction of participant property unless due to intentional or grossly negligent behavior by the Organizer. Please do not bring valuables. It is strongly recommended that participants (or their legal guardians) ensure they have adequate personal liability and accident insurance.

  • The Contractual Party (parent or guardian) is responsible for any damage caused by the participant to Organizer or venue property, or to items owned by others, during the Program.

  • The Organizer is not liable for damages caused by force majeure, riot, war, natural disasters, or technical malfunctions beyond its control.

  • Where liability is excluded or limited, this also applies to employees, agents, and representatives.

11. Data Protection and Media

  • Personal data is collected and used only for the administration and running of the Program, in accordance with the GDPR.

  • Data may be shared with service providers as needed to run the Program, all of whom are bound to confidentiality.

  • With your separate consent, photos and videos may be taken during the Program for documentation and promotion (e.g., website, social media). Consent is voluntary and not required for participation.

  • See our Privacy Policy for full details.

12. Law and Jurisdiction

  • The law of the Federal Republic of Germany applies, except for mandatory consumer protection laws of your country.

  • The place of jurisdiction is Berlin, Germany, as far as legally permitted. For consumers, statutory jurisdictions apply.

13. Written Form and Severability

  • Changes or additions to these Terms and Conditions must be in writing. This also applies to changes to this written form requirement.

  • If any part of these Terms is invalid, the rest remain in effect.
