Program Overview
The Young Leaders' Online Debate and Leadership Program is a short-term online debate training program designed to develop sound debating skills and leadership qualities by engaging the students through a participatory and experiential pedagogy. The Young Leaders' Program is delivered as four interconnected— Foundational, Intermediate, Advanced and Professional — learning journeys and certification is offered in association with the Global Citizenship Foundation. This Program is licensed to Globalivo in India, a partnership firm offering innovative educational programs and events.
The program provides a unique opportunity for students to develop robust communication skills, democratic-leadership, social skills, debating skills, decision-making skills, collaborative skills by unleashing their competitive, logical, analytical, critical, and creative thinking.
Online Pedagogy
Though the basis of our debate education remains the same, what differs is the forms of teaching interaction. We understand that the online teaching restrains certain forms of in-person interaction, however, it also creates opportunities for new ways to engage with learners. Our basis of facilitating — our carefully curated content, pedagogy, and assessment — coupled with well-planned, intentional uses of online technologies, encourages learners to display “lean forward” behaviors including peer interaction and engagement.
Similar to our in-person/residential programs, our online programs embed approaches such as natural learning, collective engagement, mutual support, and cooperative learning thereby ensuring that the child is not forced to learn or to respond to any activity.
To make learning an enriching and immersive experience, the online programs employ the right blend, selection, and sequences of synchronous and asynchronous learning activities.
Our facilitators use polls and other interactive technologies to get a sense of learners' comprehension, reactions, and experiences in addition to inviting learners in thought-sharing exercises. We also encourage learners to engage in cocktail and small table conversations in addition to general discussions of particular questions. We create collaborative synchronous and asynchronous opportunities to engage learners in experiential and project-based learning. Our Post-Session Exercises, Assignments, Video Screenings, Presentations, Reflections and other productive activities are designed to ensure learner success.
